If you love super crunchy fried chicken with a unique twist, you are going to love this Doritos Crusted Chicken recipe! The coating made with crushed Doritos makes the chicken extra crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, bringing that bold corn flavor and seasoning everyone loves. Perfect for snacks, parties, game days, or even as a special menu item.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 1.3 lbs (600 g) chicken breast cutlets or tenders

  • Salt to taste

  • Black pepper to taste

  • Juice of ½ lemon

Breading

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • 2 cups crushed Doritos (use your favorite flavor)

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp sweet paprika (optional)

  • 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)

For Frying

  • Oil for frying

Instructions

1. Season the chicken
Season the chicken pieces with salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Let them sit for a few minutes to absorb the flavors.

2. Set up the breading station
In a shallow dish, place the crushed Doritos. In a second dish, mix the flour with paprika and garlic powder (if using). In a third shallow dish, beat the eggs.

3. Bread the chicken
Dredge each piece of chicken first in the seasoned flour, then dip into the beaten egg, and finally coat with the crushed Doritos, pressing firmly to form an even crust.

4. Fry the chicken
Heat enough oil to cover the chicken pieces in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the pieces in batches until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

5. Serve warm
Serve immediately while hot, accompanied by your favorite dipping sauces (such as barbecue, seasoned mayo, or cheese sauce) and French fries or a side salad.

Tips and Variations

  • Use fresh, crunchy Doritos and crush them into coarse crumbs—this gives the crust a crunchier texture.

  • Do not overcrowd the pan when frying; cook a few pieces at a time to maintain the ideal oil temperature.

  • To bake instead of fry: place the breaded chicken on a greased baking sheet or rack and bake at 400°F (200°C) until golden brown and fully cooked.
